Geological facts

Also known as Amazon Stone, it was once believed to come from the Amazon River, although no deposits exist there. It is actually found in Russia, Brazil, and Colorado, USA (notably the Pikes Peak area).

Identify by its distinct blue-green hue and 'schiller' or pearly sheen when rotated in light. Found commonly in regions with granitic pegmatites. Collectors look for intense color and blocky crystal shapes.
