Formation & geological history
Formed during the Proterozoic Eon (approx. 1.8 billion years ago) as carbonate concretions within siliceous greywacke in the Belcher Islands of Hudson Bay, Canada. Later transported southward by glaciers during Pleistocene ice ages.
