First discovered in the early 1960s by George Swanson in Namibia. It is a rare variety of chalcedony distinguished by its delicate, lace-like banding patterns.

Identified by its distinctive sky-blue color and wavy, white, or translucent bands. Found mainly in Namibia, but similar banded chalcedony occurs in South Africa and Romania.
