Geological facts
Despite the name, it is technically a combination of volcanic ash and carbonate minerals rather than a true jasper (which is silicate-based). It is highly toxic if inhaled or ingested due to its arsenic (orpiment) content.
Field identification & locations
Identified by its distinctive 'bumblebee' stripes of bright yellow and black. Found exclusively at Mount Papandayan in West Java, Indonesia. Collectors should handle it with care and wash hands after use.
