Formation & geological history
Formed through the intrusion of granitic magma into country rock, where hydrothermal fluids rich in copper later precipitated azurite into the fractures and cavities of the granite. Found almost exclusively near K2 mountain in Pakistan.

Used primarily as a decorative stone, carved into tumbled stones, spheres, and jewelry beads for collectors and crystal enthusiasts.
Geological facts
Despite being named after the world's second-highest mountain, K2 Stone is actually found at the foothills rather than the peak itself. The striking contrast of bright blue azurite dots on a grayish-white granite matrix makes it instantly recognizable.
Field identification & locations
Easily identified by the distinct eye-like spots or patches of royal blue azurite embedded within a speckled black and white granitic background. Sourced primarily from the Skardu region in Pakistan.
