Formation & geological history
Formed when felsic lava cools rapidly with minimum crystal growth, creating natural volcanic glass. Over time, devitrification occurs where parts of the glass recrystallize into cristobalite (a silica mineral) forming white, snowflake-like mineral inclusions.
