Named after the Unaka Range of the Appalachian Mountains in North Carolina/Tennessee where it was first discovered. It is the state rock of Virginia.

Identify by its unique pistachio-green (epidote) and pink (orthoclase) mottled appearance. Found in river beds and beach gravels in the Great Lakes region and the Blue Ridge Mountains.
