Geological facts

Unlike Blue Lace Agate which shows banding, Blue Quartzite has a more uniform, grainy crystalline appearance. It is often referred to as 'Blue Aventurine' when it exhibits a shimmering effect (aventurescence).

Field identification & locations

Identify by its hardness (will scratch glass) and lack of distinct banding found in chalcedony. Commonly found in Brazil, India, and South Africa. For collectors, look for deep color and high translucency.
