Geological facts

Despite being named 'Rainbow Moonstone', it is technically a variety of white labradorite rather than a true orthoclase moonstone. The iridescent schiller effect is caused by light diffracting between thin alternating feldspar layers.

Identified by its translucent white body and bright, flash-like blue or multicolored metallic sheen when rotated under light. Often carved into crescent moons, stars, or cabochons.
