Geological facts

The optical effect known as chatoyancy is caused by the reflection of light from the parallel fibers within the stone. In its blue, unoxidized state, it is known as Hawk's Eye.

Identifiable by its distinct move-able golden shimmer when rotated. Commonly found in South Africa, Western Australia, India, and Namibia.
