Formation & geological history
Formed through hydrothermal alteration of granite, where hot waters altered the original plagioclase feldspar into epidote. Found in mountainous regions and glacial deposits.

Geological facts
Unakite was first discovered in the Unaka Mountains of North Carolina, from which it gets its name. It is structurally a granite rock, but chemically altered to include significant green epidote.
