Geological facts

Unakite was first discovered in the Unaka Mountains of western North Carolina, from which it derives its name. It is essentially a granite composed of pink orthoclase feldspar, clear quartz, and green epidote.

Easily identified by its distinct combination of salmon-pink and pistachio-green patches. Commonly found in riverbeds, glacial tills, and mountainous regions associated with granite intrusions.
